A Bitter Beginning

In the early days of Israel, amidst famine, an Israelite family leaves their hometown, seeking to make a life in Moab. A decade later the matriarch, Naomi, returns home feeling empty; her husband and two adult sons have died. One of her daughters-in-law stayed in Moab. However, the other – Ruth – commits herself to Naomi and the God of Israel. And thus begins this story of redemption. Today’s passage is Ruth 1.
