Abiding in You

This song was written to be sung during communion following a sermon on John 15:1-17 on August 4, 2024.

Lyrics: 

You are the true vine, 

Your Father the gardener.

Every fruitful branch the Father will prune.

We're pruned by Your word, 

the word that You've spoken.

We can bear no fruit unless we're in You,

abiding in You.

You are the vine; we are the branches.

Our life and joy come from You.

In Your love we abide, as we keep Your commandments:

Your words in us, our lives in You,

abiding in You.

You call us to ask,

to ask of the Father,

asking in Your name and bearing much fruit.

This fruit will remain,

our love for each other,

flowing from the love that we have in You,

abiding in You.

We eat of the bread

and taste of Your goodness;

You, who call us friends, have laid down Your life.

We drink of the cup

and taste Your forgiveness:

wondrous grace that brings us into the vine, 

where we will abide.
