Nocturne in E Minor

Song by Frederic Chopin

I began to learn this song when I was unknowingly heading into a tough season of life. I have come out of the other side of that season, and I have also finished learning this song. I realized that the process of learning this Nocturne mirrored a lot of what had been happening day to day. There was fumbling through new notes and rhythms- they sounded unconnected and ugly just like my days and conversations. Yet, being on this end of things, I can look back and see beauty in what the Spirit was refining in myself and others. Now when I sit down to play this song, I am reminded that much like the task of learning a challenging piece and then reaping the reward of being able to play it well, hard seasons can be daunting in the midst, but, by His grace, the Spirit can produce good fruit from dark times. Love, kindness, and faithfulness come to mind.
