by J.S. Bach

“If you don’t have time to practice, at least play scales,” counsels cellist Zuill Bailey. For the working musician, there are few things as plain and everyday as scales and arpeggios. Yet, J.S. Bach shows us that these basic exercises can be turned into wondrous music. In this movement from the 3rd Suite, Bach builds a beautiful theme from a descending C major scale.
