Everything Sings of the Glory of God

Over the past few years, I’ve enjoyed learning to juggle and practicing new techniques. When I was little, one of our family’s favorite kids’ books was called The Clown of God. It told the story of a boy who grew up to be a juggler. During his juggling career, he had a conversation with two Franciscan monks, who told him: “Our founder, Brother Francis, says that everything sings of the glory of God. Why, even your juggling,” said one of the brothers. “That’s well and good for men like you, but I only juggle to make people laugh and applaud,” Giovanni said. “It’s the same thing,” the brothers said. “If you give happiness to people, you give glory to God as well.” At the end of the story, Giovanni comes to realize this truth as he juggles for God’s glory.
