A Clean Heart
performed by Wendy Golter • written by Wendy Golter
Lent is a time to see ourselves by God’s light. A time to acknowledge that sin has been forgiven at so great a price. It invites us to examine ourselves and ask God to create in us a clean heart. In this monologue, a woman from Jesus’ time tells of a devastating life event that led her to look deep inside and discover that true righteousness does not come from trying to measure up to others’ standards. True righteousness, a clean heart, can only be found through Jesus. The setting of the monologue is the room where the disciples and other followers are hiding, expecting the worst now that Jesus has been crucified.
