One of my favorite descriptions of Jesus is as the good shepherd. Sheep look to their shepherd for so much: for direction, comfort, security, and for life itself. Similarly, Jesus is also our King. He is worthy of our allegiance and praise, as a king who laid down His life for His people, so that we could be redeemed. This song is steeped in elements from Psalm 23, speaking to seasons of uncertainty where we long to hear the comforting voice of our shepherd, to follow His lead, and trust Him as our Shepherd King.
