From Joel: A disciple is a student. In music, studies or études are compositions that help the performer work on specific aspects of musicality, helping him or her grow as a musician. These six studies, each one based on a different English folk song, were originally written for cello and piano but have been arranged for many different instruments. As disciples of Jesus, I think there are many studies he has for us that help us grow in beautiful ways.
